San Francisco

Well, it is sort of wierd to be down to two kids.  None of us has many other commitments yet, and it is only four schedules instead of six, so we have been doing a lot together.
One of our adventures was to San Francisco. We walked around Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square and such.

August 2011

Well, since we are in CA now and Gregory would soon be headed to Provo, we had to sneak in one last beach trip together! We went to Seacliff Beach in Santa Cruz.  The cloud cover stayed all day (until we left around 2:00pm!)  The water was "a bit" cold.  I love this first picture.  Look at Sean's shoulders and you can see what they were all thinking!

On August 20th we took Gregory to the Oakland airport to head off on the adventure called BYU!  He was very ready to go and had already "friended" some people doing the same Youth Leadership Course on facebook, so he was ready to meet them in person.  As you can see, the fidoras did not fit in the suitcase, so Gregory styled them all!
Also in August, Jill and Joan came down for a friends wedding.
Erin and I were able to spend some time with them.
WE sp[end some time with them in Martinez.  We went to the street fair downtown then to the Marina.  The Marina is one of mom and Dad's favorite places to go and relax.

We were also able to spend the day with them at Great America.
We had fun on the rides, and it was not real crowded, so we had to wait in very few lines.
Good memories!

Busy July 2011

So, as we started off July, we dropped Gariet off at the MTC (6th).
After that we headed to St. George and Tuacahn for shows.
Little Mermaid for all of us, and  Grease the following night for Gregory and Erin.
We had a fun time hangin out at the time share pool as well.

The following week Erin had girls camp.
While she was gone, the movers came and packed up the house and drove off to CA.
(this is the crate they built for Gariet's double bass.)

The following Monday (ok, we are at the 18th now).....
Darrell and Sean headed to Utah for scout camp.
Erin got her braces off at 8am, picked up her retainer at 1:40, and then
she, Gregory, and I headed to the airport by 3pm to head to CA.

The rest of the month was spent unpacking and getting ourselves settled in and unpacked.
Let's just say that the packers use a LOT of packing materials and I think I may pack myself next time, because it makes unpacking an even bigger task! This the packing paper from just the kitchen!!!!

July 6, 2011 - MTC

July 6th, 2011 was the day Gariet went into the MTC in Provo.

His report time was in the afternoon, so he and I went to the
Mt. Timpanogos temple in the morning.

When we headed to Provo we went to Fuddrucker's for lunch. Missionaries reporting to the MTC get a free meal that day! Sandy and the girls joined us for a fun lunch together.

We had heard that things were crazy at the MTC and that there is really no time for pictures. So, we (along with MANY others) parked at the Provo temple for photo ops and goodbyes.
There is no MTC sign anymore, so we had him stand on the corner so we could see the MTC street sign. He can now officially play on the lawn too!

And of course then we drove into line at the gate and headed in!
Contrary to what I had heard, I did not feel rushed or like I couldn't take pictures and say more goodbyes. It was still a good idea to have goodbyes at the temple though to have all the time we wanted. Gariet and I were the only ones to get out of the car at the MTC. I took pictures and snuck in a last hug, and he was off! He was very excited and ready to get started!
